I was shopping looking for a white, 50s style wedding dress for my wedding, which is in September. Having gone to Vivien of Holloway, where I expected to find something very easily, I found the staff incredibly unhelpful and decided to make my way over to Camden and have a browse. This is where I stumbled upon The Arc!!! I saw a patterned satin 50s style halterneck similar to those sold at Vivien of Holloway outside so I thought I'd go in and have a look. The dresses are similar in style, slightly higher priced but I found them to be of a much better quality. They did not have any white or ivory dresses but when I asked the young girl working there she was very helpful and even phoned the warehouse to check if they had any left over stock, and was willing to arrange a quick pick up from the warehouse before I headed back to Sheffield, where I live !! In the end I have decided not to go with the 50s look, but I felt obliged to tell everyone how pleased I was with this shop.

The Arc is absolutely a beautiful shop. The girl working there was very nice and she explained us things about the clothes and told us she likes so much Barcelona, the capital of our community. Very friendly at all!

I loved the corsets and the dresses but couldn't buy anything. I promise next time I will!

This shop is CRAZY! I've walked past it like a million times and never been inside until the other day - it's like a treasure chest FULL of amazing dresses and accessories!!! And by full, I really do mean FULL, there is just so much to take in! Never would've thought it from the outside. Didn't buy anything this time, but definitely gonna come back after Christmas. I would recommend this shop to anyone going to Camden, don't just pass it by!

i am a repeat customer and order a lot of dresses in from this shop. i think they are always really helpful. only bad thing id say is that ordering a dress can sometimes take a while, but i think thats down to the people who make them rather than the shop.

i really like this shop, only thing i would say is that it is really small and it gets really full at times so u can't see everything

but it's really cool and the dresses are well nice

Writing in response to the first ‘review’ of this shop,

Although you are apparently ‘aware that refunds are in fact possible in the circumstances as clear notification should be displayed or noted’, you seem ignorant of the fact that you have no legal entitlement to a refund simply because you have changed your mind, or in your case, because you want to cause trouble with the shop assistants. Refunds in this case are given at the discretion of the shop, and it is not our policy to do so. Admittedly, the sign stating our policy is often hard to see, simply because THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS IN THE SHOP, but we do not conspire to ever hide this sign. It is hung in the most prominent place possible, before the customer comes to the till.

The rest of your accusations do not really dignify a response. The shop assistant in question did apologise once she realised she had knocked the umbrella down. You were asked to leave the shop because you extremely rude to the shop assistant and were deliberately causing trouble. If you wish to contact the manager of the shop, the assistant provided you with her contact details...I would've suggested phoning the number you were given if you genuinely believe you have a legitimate complaint to make.

Went here a few months back to get a dress for my daughter's prom - was extremely impressed with how helpful and friendly the young staff were; even though it was a busy Saturday they were extremely accommodating and went out of their way to make sure my daughter found the best dress she could!

Will definitely go back, as they have some amazing dresses in this shop, and the staff are a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of Camden!

I visited the Arc on Saturday 12 September 2009.

A friend and I were shopping for a masquerade themed party and I had been told that this shop would have masks.

Unfortunately on leaving the shop the young girl working there after having dropped one of the ceiling hanged umbrellas on my head, said nothing. While this was by accident and completely unintentional is was however extremely shocke that I received no curteous apology, nor a 'are you hurt'. On commenting on this lack of concern the girl promptly said "well the shops closed now are you going to leave then'.

After this response I asked for a refund for my mask, only to be told "we do not do refunds" when I responded explaining I was not told nor made aware of this, she promptly turned around pointing at a sign behind her which she was stood in front of. The sign thoug bright red was located at the far back darkest corner of the shop. Despite not having left the premises I was still refused a refund (even though I should have been made aware of this during exchange of monies / a sign on the front of the door stating such), to top this I was also refused a VAT receipt when I asked for one!

I have to say that I shall not be going there again, and am currently trying to contact the 'Powers That Be' in charge of the shops as I am aware that refunds are in fact possible in the circumstances as clear notification should be displayed or noted.
