The Big Chill Bar is part of the fabric of Brick Lane life. It’s a place to have a drink and a delicious burger after shopping, or a place to drink and have a delicious burger after nothing, or to party with one of our resident DJs when the sun goes down.

All In London Review

Chilled atmosphere, whatever the weather

The Big Chill Bar heaves with people every time the temperature rises. Its large outdoor area and the summery ethos behind The Big Chill franchise (which includes the festival, label, and another venue near King’s Cross) make it one of the most popular bars on Brick Lane and the surrounding area. At cooler times people huddle up against heaters or remain indoors.

Wine starting from £12.95 a bottle, cocktails and pitchers, and the odd quirky addition such as Fruli strawberry beer make up the drinks selection. Food is served throughout the day, including dishes such as French Merguez sausages, Spanish arroz negro or rice cooked in squid ink, Goan curries and Cuban moros y cristianos.

After dark the music gets louder and a scattering of revellers take to the dancefloor, however Big Chill is more of a drinking venue than a dancey one. That being said, they do pride themselves on eclectic musical choices with a beat, from dubstep to reggae to house.

The Big Chill Bar boasts a literally very ‘chilled’ atmosphere, where punters turn up to enjoy a casual drink and a natter outdoors or on the large comfy couches that fill the space inside. Staff have the same laidback attitude, and regardless of how packed the venue gets it never becomes a chore.

BC Bar is my favourite Bar in London. Fact.

I don't concede this easily, but went for the first time as a result of going to the festival run by the same organisation in August 2005. Quite simply put, the atmosphere, the range of beverages, the food, the friendliness and helpfulness of barstaff is unsurpassed not only in other bars I have been to in London, but almost any other bar I have been to in the country.

Oh, and I got together with my girlfriend there. But that doesn't influence me at all. Honest. ;-)

The Big Chill is of course one of the UK's most loved festivals and since Aug 2004 they have been packing 'em in
down trendy Brick Lane....

The music is of a very high standard, as many world-famous DJs play here, but choose your night carefully as the styles are different every day. Cocktails here are good, including the new Bourbon Espresso, and there is a decent range of bar food with a slightly south american accent. Best of all are the big leather beanbags, perfect for slouching in an inebriated state.
