Tasty! Came here with my wife for a Friday night meal. Really nice way to end the week, enjoyed the food and very friendly service. Thank you!

I have been to this restaurant regularly for years with different groups of friends, family and colleagues. It is the only one that has the discreet service, space, privacy and peaceful ambience to enable us to enjoy the excellent food and have a conversation without being deafened by other people and noises. The food is fine and for the price it's probably unbeatable. It has its limitations, the menu hasn't changed for years, you can't get a pot of tea but it has a selection of beers and wines, the usual frozen desserts and lhassi. Vegetable thali is good. If you don't want to break the bank and fancy a pleasant relaxing evening, this could be the place for you. It has an excellent reputation and not for no reason is it a long-running establishment.

This restarant is very much suited to non-indian/asian customers. If you're Indian, you will probably hate it. If you're a vegetarian indian, you'll hate it even more! (There are only 2 veg starter choices).

We (unfortunately) visited this restuarant in July 2010 as a group of 8 indian guys and all agreed the follow:

Staff are rude, service is poor, deco looks old and taccy, quality of food is shockingly poor. In fairness, I can only comment on the vegetarian items.

There was bits of mango chutney stuck between menu pages. There was a piece of string stuck to a popadum. When these concerns were raised with staff, there was no regret or apology.

I dont normally bother with writing reviews, but my level of disappointment coupled with the total misrepresentation by the 2 other reviews, I just felt had to.

Don't get me wrong, if "english targetted" indian restaurants are your kind of thing (balti houses, pub curry etc); and you haven't had the privilege of eating at a proper indian restaurant with proper indian food, and assuming we just caught them on a bad day, maybe you'll like this place.

If you want a gorgeous curry, with wonderful in-untrusive service, go to Khas. No fuss, not flash, but long-standing for good reason. There is a lot of competition in the area; and they shine above. Great delivery too..

This restaurant is simply awesome!I have been going here for about 20 years (how old does that make me sound!!) But if I ever have a choice I would go nowhere else!Food is excellent, they are always glad to see you and it is always busy.Even my GF who used to rave on about how good the indian food was in leicester (she lives there) has tried it now and will not eat anywhere else either and that is no mean feat I tell thee!In fact when I go up and see here every couple of weeks I have to bring dinner from Khas with me!They even accomodate her little northern ways as now they have put cheesy nan bread and chips on the menu just for her.Try it, it really is that good....
