The best shops in London to pick up an unusual gift

Be original and plump for an unusual gift

It turn out there are lots of things that one can buy from a yacht chandler as a gift. There are balls of rope, official yachting-wear and a whole range of other peculiarly stylish aquatic pieces. They might not be used aboard a yacht but that doesn’t matter. Arthur Beale is a great place for an unusual gift if ever we saw one and a store that comes with more than an ounce of history.

I’m designing a Grand Design home and wanted something incredibly strong but light and flexible for balustrading.
They must have thought I was mad but they humoured me and next thing we are in the basement trying endless combinations of yacht fittings.
Thé follow up help has been fantastic and we have a great solution.
I cannot recommend them highly enough.

A fabulous shop also for gifts.
Lovely small brass key rings in the shapes of anchors, ropes, and other sailing paraphanalia.
Always buy these as gifts and also use them myself.

On first thoughts Arthur Beale is a fairly strange shop to find given its location. Despite my having little interest in yachting/boating I went in anyway. Incredible. I just liked looking but after a while I ended up buying a St. James shirt and hat to match.

Without doubt a true London treasure. Some identity still left in Covent Garden.

I have visited Arthur Beale's on many occasions over the past 30 years and I've always found what I wanted. It's a brilliant place for yachting folk to browse or to pop in to buy that little gadget that only Beale's seem to stock. Keep up the good work guys!

When in London we stay at the Covant Garden Hotel which is just down from Authur Beale's. Anyway, this is the place where you can find a marine fitting for almost any application. In addition they carry a line of those French navy shirts, watch caps, flags and all those nautical items that we sailors just spend time to admire.
