Put simply, Finchley got lucky. It has had the pleasure of having The Salt Beef Bar on its doorstep for over a decade. This is a simple café that does simple salt beef – the best way. Served on rye (or not) with gherkins and mustard. People travel for this and you can see why.

As an expert on salt beef sandwiches this bar is by far the best in London.If they used smaltz the sandwiches woukd have been more traditional.

Really excellent and well prepared salt beef ... delicious, moist and just the right amount of scrumptious fat. The traditional starters, like egg and onion and chopped liver are good too. It is a bit pricey but worth it for the occasional treat.

Not great, not sure why this place has 2 good reviews. Very bland boiled meat on stale bread and very expensive.

I have been visiting the Salt Beef Bar in Temple fortune for years.
It is by far the best Salt Beef in London, the prices are cheaper than the rest and service is fantastic. The bread is always fresh and the home made new green pickles are an essential side order.
Definitely my favourite takeaway food!!!!

Without doubt this small Salt Beef Bar offers the best salt beef sandwich I know in North London.
Try one with rye bread and a little mustard, maybe with a latke (potato dumpling).
Honestly its delicious and the people who run it are really nice too !!
