I went to this restaurant after it was recommended to me by a friend, and it did not disappoint! Absolutely the best Italian restaurant in London - and probably the best Italian food I've ever had (in or out of Italy!) Fantastic service, a wonderfully homely atmosphere, GORGEOUS food and superb wine! The next time you want Italian, you must visit Il Portico!

Recommended by the Copthorne Tara Hotel and a little longer walk than some of the advertised alternatives, this is a great little Italian Restaurant. The food was yummy - I had the Linguini al Frutti di Mare having seen it on the next table. They went out of their way to create a pasta dish for my wife from ingredients discussed and advised - a first for us. Our two much travelled friends were very impressed with the authentic italian cuisine - Penne with aubergine, tomato and mozerella and rack of lamb. The ambience was great and the service felt like we were welcome and appreciated as customers. The bill wasn't too hefty.
Can't wait to go again.

The menu is rather limited and never changes but the food is good and the staff are pleasant and efficient, however care should be taken with the bill as on past visits extra bottles of wine have been added and weren't noticed until the bill was checked the following day.

This is a wonderful restaurant, centrally located and where you can be sure of eating the freshest and most authentic dishes. Be sure to try the fish of the day. Also of note is the carefully chosen wine list and the excellent service from the owners and their staff. Highly recommended to all.

If you like second rate and overpriced Italian food with service to match then this is THE place for you.
I recently dined there with three friends. Although not busy, the staff left us to wait 20 minutes before offering 3 menus; the fourth never appeared. Over an hour later the food arrived. It was at least consistently underwhelming. We struggled to get basic service all evening until the bill arrived when the cocksure young waiter chose to instruct us which of my party should pay the bill. Inappropriate, embarassing and far from funny. The evening cost £35 a head for a shared starter, plate of pasta and glass of wine....oh and insulting service. Good on you Il Portico!
