The Green Man is a traditional British pub that serves a selection of wines, beers and spirits. Bar food is also available, and there is a large screen satellite TV showing all the main sporting events. They also have a juke box, pool table and fruit machines. A function room for private parties up to a maximum of 40 people is available upon request and once a month they have themed nights.

All In London Review

A lively boozer in a sleepy part of central London

Review Image
It looks like a 1950’s greengrocer from the outside - complete with Covent-Garden-Flower-Market-esque alleyway alongside it - but this is no traditional pub relying on retro looks for its customers. The Green Man is a lively boozer in a sleepy part of central London with an atmosphere largely provided by the young crowd who filter in from the many nearby media companies.

It is also a cider house with an array of apple-y alcohol on draught. There’s more than the usual here with the likes of Hogan’s, Old Rascal and Pipps Cross on the taps. Add to that an eclectic lineup of beers (Sierra Nevada and Meantime Pale Ale stand out for us) and you can see why it attracts a crowd. The food menu is full of reassuringly gastro versions of pub classics and we’d happily eat here again. The rump steak sandwich wasn’t cheap – coming in at over £10! But served with chips, fried onion and salad it was more satisfying than a lot of burgers we’ve eaten in similar pubs.

Given its location, it is not surprising that The Green Man fills up fast on Thursday and Friday nights. On our visit the window booths are packed, the comfy looking leather sofas are taken and even the handsome upstairs ‘lounge’ is crammed with people, which means a wait for table space. But with a chirpy music policy – the volume rather than the genres – the lively atmosphere could quite comfortably keep you happy until closing time. And with that cobbled Covent Garden alleyway outside, you would imagine that summer evenings are a lot of fun here.
