All In London Review

The archetypal Soho local...

Review Image
A trip to the Blue Posts is sort of like swapping your living room at home for one in the heart of Soho. Located on a corner of Berwick Street, it finds itself deep in the heart of media country. However, with the Berwick Street Market just down the road, it attracts a mixed clientele of trendy types and market traders.

Looking at the Blue Posts’ interior, to say that it’s classic is an understatement. A lone TV hangs in a corner but everything else seems from a time before that aforementioned box was even in colour. If you’re hunting for tradition then this is the place. Carpeted, warm and quiet, Blue Posts is a simple, drinker’s pub - that Becks Vier is probably the most exotic lager on tap should tell you that. Perfectly symmetrical in design, the central bar is surrounded by tables that are pushed up against the walls, with each half reflecting the other. If you want to find independent businesses in Soho these days then it seems you have only the sex shops around Walker Court and old pubs like the Blue Posts. And while the sex scene might appeal to some, the pubs are definitely worth celebrating. The Blue Posts is a local that has remained the same for many, many years. And it doesn’t need to go changing anytime soon.

If you like your living room just about as much as you like the pub, then the Blue Post is a good balance of the two.

Thick carpet inside and a classic no frills, old pub decor. It's lovely. 'They don't make them like this anymore...'
