The Emirates Air Line is the first urban cable car of its kind in the UK. It stretches across the River Thames, running between the Greenwich Peninsula and the Royal Docks. Passengers can enjoy spectacular views of London taking in sites such as St Paul’s Cathedral, the Gherkin, the Shard, the Thames Barrier and the Olympic Park as they fly 90 metres above the Thames.

The Emirates Air Line takes around 10 minutes to cross the river and each of the 34 cabins can seat up to 10 passengers. It is fully accessible; each cabin can accommodate up to two wheelchairs or up to two bicycles.

It operates seven days a week, from 7am to 9pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 9pm on Saturday and 9am to 9pm on Sunday. It closes at 8pm during the winter (October to March).

A single journey on the Emirates Air Line (as at September 2013) costs £3.20 for an adult with an Oyster card, Travelcard or Freedom Pass and £1.60 for a child. Children under 5 go free. Adults without an Oyster card or Travelcard pay £4.30 for a single journey and children pay £2.20. A roundtrip journey costs £6.40 with an Oyster card or Travelcard.

The Emirates Royal Dock Terminal is on the northern side of Victoria Dock, close to Royal Victoria DLR station and a short walk from ExCeL London.

The Emirates Greenwich Peninsula terminal is located near The O2 and is a short walk from North Greenwich Tube station.
