Post-concert interview: Steve Reich and Ryan Hepburn (Artistic Director, Wathen Hall)

The Wathen Hall is delighted to welcome legendary Pulitzer Prize-winning American composer, Steve Reich, for a gala concert celebration of his music and legacy during his seventy-fifth birthday year. Bringing together a range of ensembles and performers associated with Reich’s music, as well as some of the most talented musicians from St Paul’s School and St Paul’s Girls’ School, we dedicate an entire evening to this iconic composer and his music. With a programme that features the systematic and enthralling patterns of Clapping Music, the shimmering luminescence of two of Reich’s most celebrated “counterpoint” works, the graphic horrors of the Holocaust in the Grammy award-winning Different Trains, and the hypnotic, trance-inducing waves of the illustrious Music for 18 Musicians – all in the composer’s presence – this is an historic occasion of monumental proportions not to be missed.
