Oxford Philomusica returns to the Barbican for the first time since making its debut at the concert hall in 1998. The concert will begin with the world premiere of an exciting new work by Martyn Harry, a composer based at the Faculty of Music at Oxford University, before the remarkably talented young pianist Benjamin Grosvenor joins the Orchestra for Grieg’s gloriously romantic Piano Concerto. The programme is completed by Carl Orff’s colourful and dramatic setting of medieval poetry – about life lived to the full under the inescapable shadow of fate - with the work’s famous choruses sung by the internationally renowned London Symphony Chorus.
