Went in eight days ago to purchase a bike from Evans cycles and was very helpful at the time getting money out for me. Went in today after receiving emails and text saying that the bank would be ready only to find out that the staff had no idea that had adjustments to be done on it and modifications and was spoken to very condescendingly - would not recommend this place for the money that I had spent there.

Evans has an excellent service, very friendly and lovely staff. I went today with my brakes not working as well as they should and the lovely guy in the workshop tightened them for me straight away and without charge. They also leave the pump outside, so whenever my tires are low on air, I can just go and pump them there. Before, when I wasn't so good at it myself, they used to come out and help me do it. They are so friendly and so helpful there, I would recommend everyone to go to EVANS in Clapham!

Shocking service. Im an experienced cyclist and yet they somehow managed to pull the wool over my eyes. I put my road bike in for a 'silver service' that was to include a greasing and tightening of the bottom bracket, only for them to claim the bb was cracked and needed replacing. They charged £120 for this. When i got the bike back, the bb had not been changed, same wear marks on the shell. Total cowboys. Avoid at all costs.

Rode into store on my bike to put it in for a basic service in December 2013. Took them a day to cart it off to some warehouse near Greenwich (they said), service and return it to the store. When I returned to pick it up, I waited 20mins for a free assistant, who then wheeled it out, beaming, with no pedals. When I asked where they'd gone, he said the bike must have been taken in with no pedals - but would I like to buy some for £17.99? NO! After I asked for my pedals back about 3 times he relented and put some new ones on free of charge. I felt horrible, terrible experience. AVOID!

1. They don't answer the phone
2. The staff don't know what they're talking about
3. They lie about expected repair times
4. Prices are seriously inflated compared to other places
5. Hardly any staff
6. Staff they have don't communicate with each other
I could go on... Bloody awful place

Bad service. A simple change of break pads & service has taken over 2 weeks when initially told 24 hours. I can understand when 'parts are ordered' but to continue to tell me 'tomorrow' and NOT contact me when they haven't arrived is ****ing annoying! The service instore is another dissappoint

I have bought a few items from this Evans because of the convenience, but the staff are just appalling - typical uninterested student style workers with no passion. Went to the Evans in Liverpool Street and was very impressed. After all you can buy this stuff online- it's all about the service!!

Twice I have been here for puncture repairs only to find after ONE journey that the puncture has reappeared. I am not convinced that they do a careful job, checking for the object in the tyre that caused the first puncture. I'm not convinced of the straightforwardness of the manager and some of the staff (and i agree with someone else who commented, you can be hanging around a lot while they notice you. Though some individuals have good communication and service skills, it really is the luck of the draw and not the rule). A puncture repair costs £19, of which £5 is the inner tube, and yet they can do the repair while you wait - 10 minutes max - @£14 and hour. There has to be a cheaper way that doesn't put you in a bad mood! I've gone to the bother of signing up here, just to vent my frustration at the service here.

If you want good service, better value and staff who notice you - try the independent cycle shop opposite.
I went to Evans Clapham this weekend. The staff just talk to each other, keep customers waiting and need some serious customer service training! Needless to say, I left and went over the road, to be very pleasantly surprised!

Whenever I go in to this shop, most of the staff are pretty nice and friendly. However, some are rude and incompetent, and I have often been kept waiting longer than necessary. Moreover, the services are expensive. Overall, I wouldn't really recommend this place; instead, try the independent places nearby, who tend to be much more obliging and customer-focused...
