This concert includes the world premiere of Ivor Gurney’s Piano Sonata in D minor, recently discovered in the RCM Library by RCM Junior Fellow Jonathan Musgrave, who has transcribed and edited it especially for this evening’s concert.

Also on the programme are works by Gurney’s close friend (and fellow RCM student) Herbert Howells, including his Piano Quartet dedicated “to the Hill at Chosen and Ivor Gurney who knows it”. Closing the concert is Gurney’s song cycle Ludlow and Teme for voice, string quartet and piano.
