Panelist Profiles

Nigel Grierson, Managing Director & Co-Founder, Doughty Hanson Technology Fund

Nigel Grierson is a co-Managing Director and Founder of the Doughty Hanson Technology Fund. The $272M Technology Fund invests on a pan-European basis from offices in London and Munich. The Fund focuses on early-stage companies in growth areas within the market sectors of communications, hardware, consumer technologies (including renewable energy), and semiconductors . Prior to joining Doughty Hanson, Mr. Grierson was the Group Director for Intel Capital Europe, managing a team responsible for making strategic equity investments, acquisitions and developing new business opportunities for Intel throughout Europe. He and the team together originated and invested in over 35 technology start-up companies, many of which became substantial public companies. During his 15 year career at Intel he also held the positions of: European Divisional Director for Networking Products with responsibility for sales marketing and product development; European Marketing Director; and Group Systems Engineering Manager. Previously to Intel he worked at AT&T in the Communications Product Division leading a team developing high performance silicon processors, and at Schneider developing industrial process control systems. Mr Grierson graduated with qualifications in telecommunication engineering and electrical engineering. He is an alumnus of Insead Fontainbleau.
 
 Oscar Jazdowski, Silicon Valley Bank


Oscar Jazdowski is head of origination for Silicon Valley Bank’s UK office. Jazdowski has over 25 years experience of financing technology companies at all stages of development, from young venture-backed startups to large multinational companies across a broad base of technology and life science sectors.

Having started his career with Bank of Boston in the UK, Oscar transferred to Head Office in 1983 to join the High Technology Lending Group. Over the next 13 years he held various positions, including running Bank of Boston’s Silicon Valley office in Palo Alto, California, where he oversaw the development of numerous relationships with prominent Silicon Valley technology companies.

In 1996, Oscar started the East Coast Technology Group of Imperial Bank (now Comerica), providing debt financing and other financial services to young, emerging, venture-backed companies. He then went on to open, and spend two years running, the East Coast office for Sand Hill Capital in Boston, prior to joining Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) in 2002.

At SVB, Oscar focuses on delivering financial services products and solutions to multiple sectors of the IT, technology and life science industries, leveraging SVB’s extensive global network to connect people and companies together so as to expand business and grow revenues.

Oscar transferred to SVB’s London based office in May 2010 where he now heads up SVB’s origination efforts in the UK.
