As a classic chop house in the great British tradition, Butlers Wharf Chop House prides itself on its commitment to sourcing and serving only the best British produce. The Chop House takes not only pride but also pleasure in keeping up the culinary traditions of the British Isles. Central to its ‘Best of British’ offering is a fantastic Sunday lunch for all the family – for many, the meal of the week.

This summer, The Chop House invites its diners to enjoy the perfect London Sunday on the Thames. Beginning with an impeccably sourced and prepared Sunday roast with all the trimmings, guests can soak up the atmosphere of the river, take in the monumental views of Tower Bridge that the restaurant offer, before wandering the short stroll along Shad Thames to the bridge itself to find out more about this magnificent structure at the Tower Bridge Exhibition. The Chop House is delighted to be able to offer complimentary tickets to the exhibition to all those dining from the Sunday lunch menu for the rest of the summer – a fantastic offer for those who want to know more about this great City. Butlers Wharf Chop House is also one of four D&D London iconic riverside restaurants participating in the inaugural Tower Bridge Summer Festival so there will be no shortage of activities (including events, tastings and all the coverage of the Olympics) bh the river this summer.

When it comes to cooking such an important meal as Sunday lunch, head chef Martin Kroon knows exactly when to innovate and exactly when only the comfort of the familiar will do. His Sunday lunch menu would be nothing without a choice of roasts including, of course, traditional rib of British beef with Yorkshire pudding, spit roast corn fed chicken and bread sauce and roast pork with apple sauce and proper crackling. Martin sources all his meat from Thatcham Butchers based in Newbury, Berkshire, suppliers of green, ethical and local meat including dry-aged beef since 1985.

Other dishes include Martin’s subtly modern take on the classics such as Jerusalem artichoke and watercress salad with soft duck egg and walnuts and whole lemon sole with brown shrimp butter and jersey royals. For pudding, guests are spoilt for choice from such favourites as sticky toffee pudding and British cheeses with chutney and oat biscuits.

Children are not forgotten. The same care and attention is paid to the children’s menu which includes perennial favourites such as sausages and mash and fishfingers (homemade using day boat fish) and chips, as well as smaller versions of Sunday classics like roast beef and Yorkshire pudding or toad-in-the-hole. Pudding should please even the fussiest eaters – maybe sticky toffee pudding, or ice cream with toffee sauce.

Lunch at The Butlers Wharf Chop House costs £37.50 for three courses (inclusive of one ticket per person). The children’s menu costs £14.50 per child inclusive of exhibition entry. The Sunday lunch and exhibition package is available for the rest of the summer. Tickets for the exhibition are issued from the restaurant after dining.
