We think the art of craft beer labels is the biggest movement since Impressionism - and The Stormbird is their gallery (that means there's loads of good looking beer here)

All In London Review

A serious contender for South London’s best craft beer pub.

Review Image
An update on the old Funky Munky that stood in its place, the Storm Bird has brought shabby charm and an imposing list of beers to get excited about. ‘On the rise’, ‘up and coming’, ‘gentrification’, say what you like, the arrival of a craft beer pub like this is a sure sign that trends are changing in the area.

Located on Camberwell Church Street, the Storm Bird is a simple box of a pub that lets its beers do the talking. Done up in a ‘less is more’ style, you’ll find plenty of tables supported by the odd neon sign, mounted beer plaque logos and a winding set of fairy lights that add a touch of warmth to the neutral tones.

Food is off the menu but the staff isn’t adverse to you ordering in takeaway and solid sustenance is something you’ll need to bear in mind given the extensive range of beers. Brews from all over the world are featured on draught, in cans and in bottles. From Kernel to Lagunitas, Anderson Valley to Chimay, Magic Rock to Schneider Weisse, the selection makes this is a serious contender for South London’s best craft beer pub.

The lively crowd (it stays open till 1am at weekends) is a mixture of students, locals and others who have been seduced from further up and down town by the selection of beer. With a friendly atmosphere and a solid music policy, The Storm Bird is one of our favourite new discoveries.
