The Pursuit of English Excellence: WSET launches new tasting to explore English wine

The WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust) is to launch its first English wine consumer class following on from record sales after the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee weekend, just in time for the Olympics.

The two-hour class will be held on Thursday 12th July 2012 and host
Julia Trustram Eve, of the English Wine Producers, will talk guests
through a tasting of 12 English wines, which will include Chapel Down,
Hush Heath, Nyetimber and Ridgeview, amongst others.

The tasting will include a fun and informal examination of the
category, including an exploration of its history and future, recent
award wins (including a look at blind tastings where English wine has
won over champagne), suggested food matches from local producers such as
Paul A Young Fine Chocolates and Neal’s Yard Dairy cheeses, and
recommendations of what to drink during the Olympics.
