Eastbound Monday @ Hoxton’s Underbelly
monday sept 17th
underbelly 11 hoxton sq, london, n1 6hu

Brought to you by the students of Point Bank London, Hoxton’s very own hot house for the latest young talent in music and music business management, Eastbound Monday is a live evening showcase of fresh, new, diverse musical talent and will be the climax of their year long course.

The venue for the night is Hoxton’s Underbelly, located in the heart of London’s vibrant art district of Shoreditch. You will be dazzled not only by the music, but also by the astounding decor in this intimate basement venue.

Performing live on the night will be three upcoming artists, geographically and musically diverse to reflect the students own backgrounds.

First up is London’s very own Rickstar with his new motown flavour. His energetic performance style and soulful, unique vocal tone will leave a lasting impression for weeks to come. Rickstar grew up living between America and London and followed in his parents footsteps, both of whom are singers. He grew up listening to and being inspired by artists such as Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, Diana Ross and The Supremes. He is also a fan of contemporary artists such as Brandy, Outkast, Cee-Lo Green, Adele and Janelle Monae. He is currently working on a follow up to last year’s single “Beat of My Heart’.

Next on will be New Killer Shoes, a 4-piece Grit-pop band hailing from Redditch, Worcestershire. Their music is a fusion of 90's Grunge, Pop, Punk & Indie Rock with a dash of Ska added to make a provocative cocktail for today's discerning music lovers. They are currently recording their debut album, set to be completed in August 2012. Having recently played with Kids In Glass Houses and My Passion, toured with Max Raptor, Octane OK and No Americana on the Kerrang! Breakthru’ Tour 2011, New Killer Shoes are now preparing to support their debut album release with a nationwide tour.

Headlining on the night are Out Side Room, a 5-piece band from East Sussex. After their EP reached the Top 80 on iTunes, the band have been on a 6 month headline tour around the UK as well as a University tour from Southampton to Durham! The band's name comes from a room at bassist Charlie Simpson's house called the ‘Out Side Room’ or ‘OSR’ for short. This was the venue for weekly parties where local DJs would come and showcase their talent to friends and whoever else wanted to turn up.

Their music has been described as a horrendously catchy indie dance sound. An arsenal of eclectic synths layered over dance rhythmic drums with effortlessly clear vocals fitting snugly together to make a feel good upbeat set of tracks.Their influences include the Plastic Beach album by Gorillaz, Arctic Monkeys album Suck It And See and the band London Black Market. Out Side Room are currently on a UK tour promoting their debut EP ‘Wake Up’. It was released exclusively on iTunes in February and includes 3 tracks, ‘Wake Up’, ‘Untouchable’ & ‘Rollercoaster’.
