As a regular visitor to the lovely land that is Portugal, I have over the years become extremely enamoured of the food – and A Torre is an excellent place to go when I need a 'fix' of fresh sardines, cataplana or suckling pig... or whatever.
It's cosy, friendly, relatively inexpensive (by British standards, not Portuguese!) and a very pleasant place to spend a couple of hours or more.
The location is a mite odd – I mean, who voluntarily goes to Crystal Palace? But once you know this restaurant, it's worth venturing off the beaten track, especially if you are fond of Portuguese cooking. Everything tastes just as it should.
A little diamond among London restaurants, and well worth the hassle of getting there. It's 10 minutes' walk from the end of the No. 3 bus route, but the 322 passes a little closer.
A Torre Restaurant is a family tapas restaurant large selection of Portuguese wines and authentic taste of traditional Portuguese cuisine.
