Pont Plage arrives at Le Pont de la Tour

Le Pont de la Tour is transforming its Thames-side terrace into a luxurious summer escape

This June, Le Pont de la Tour is transforming its Thames-side terrace into a luxurious summer escape – Pont Plage. Embracing the bygone era of Riviera glamour and chic Parisian style, Londoners and tourists alike will be transported out of the city to Pont’s 1920s beach-inspired retreat.

The waterside terrace will boast bold navy and white nautical stripes along the side of the central crustacean bar, highlighting the restaurant across the river. Guests will be able to relax and enjoy leisurely lunches with crisp glasses of chilled wine, and dinners and drinks amidst the warm glow of candlelight in the evenings. The terrace will also have a life-size cut out of 1920’s beach-goers in suitably-styled bathing suits, providing guests with the perfect photo opportunity to take a real #PontMemory home with them.

Executive Head chef Tom Cook has created a beach-inspired bar menu, including large sharing salads, crab and crevette buckets and shrimp flambéed au Pastis. Additionally the terrace will boast the ‘C-Bar’, serving ceviche and sashimi-style fresh fish and seafood as well as Pont’s classic crustacean, all prepared on the spot by the C-Bar chefs.

Fun and fruity cocktails will continue the seaside-theme, including creations such as Iceberg Martini (vodka shaken with peach liqueur, blue curaçao and lime juice) and Tropical Escape (gin, Aperol, Midori liqueur, lemon juice, egg white and Maraschino cherries). Guests will also be able to enjoy chilled Chateau Minuty rosé wine by the glass from the Pont Plage ‘Rosé Fontaine’; an impressive 6L Imperial bottle served via a specialist Wikeeps system that preserves the aromas and quality of the wine via an injection of neutral gas.

Running throughout the summer season, boasting stunning views of Tower Bridge and the hustle and bustle of the City from the south side of the river, Pont Plage is sure to be the perfect post-work or weekend mini-break, whatever the weather.
