An IT Teacher from The College of North West London has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award for his excellent teaching. Ali Sharif is one of a handful of teachers across the UK to be nominated for a Times Educational Supplement (TES) award for ‘Teacher of the Year’.
Ali was put forward for the award by the College’s management team because of the way he has managed to inspire his students. One of the ways that he inspires them includes setting up fabulous work experience opportunities at big brand names such as Google and Microsoft. He also encourages his students to enter international skills competitions; many of his students have won medals, providing them with brilliant examples to add to their CVs.
Ali said: “I am very proud to be able to represent the College of North West London on a national stage. I am very grateful to our exceptional students for their hard work, commitment and willingness to learn.”
Andy Cole the College’s Principal said: “We are really delighted that Ali has been shortlisted for this prestigious award and regardless of the outcome we are extremely proud of him.”
The College has already named Ali their teacher of the year 2014, judged not just by his peers but most importantly the students.
