Rich, Colorful and Eco-Responsible, the Design Partnership Channels

London, February 17th, 2020: SUSHISAMBA is proud to announce an exclusive uniform collaboration with acclaimed fashion designer Paula Knorr, a 2019 British Fashion Council grant recipient. The uniforms will debut in Fall 2020 at SUSHISAMBA locations internationally.

SUSHISAMBA is known for its vibrant energy, bright colors and bold design that reflects the spirit of Japan, Brazil & Peru. The challenge was multi-faceted: to create a design that would capture the brand’s DNA and global relevancy; be visually striking and provide both practicality and comfort. With her entrepreneurial spirit, amazing eye for detail, and superb technical skills, Knorr was the perfect choice to take on the challenge.

“With our upcoming international expansion, we’ve been looking for ways to bring SUSHISAMBA’s natural rapport with design and fashion to the forefront while staying socially responsible,” explains SUSHISAMBA VP of Brand & Marketing, Joanna Cisowska. “This philosophy carries through to our employees with the idea that when you wear something brilliantly designed, comfortable and functional - you look and feel your best. That’s the kind of confidence we want to foster.”

For the SUSHISAMBA project, Knorr worked with sustainable fabric suppliers and tailoring factories in Europe to create custom fabrics for the brand. SUSHISAMBA uniforms will feature responsibly produced viscose and wool as well as organic cotton and recycled fibers.

”Following months of collaboration, we are proud to bring this project to life. Paula has created beautiful, premium quality uniform designs that uphold our like-minded approach to fashion, innovation and environmental consciousness, with the SUSHISAMBA brand DNA effortlessly woven in,” adds Cisowska.

The design focuses on softly draped shapes and relaxed, classic silhouettes, creating a look that boasts a modern twist, yet is still easy to wear. The collection highlights include: a soft wrapped jumpsuit with cape sleeves and palazzo pants, slim collarless jackets, and shirts with graffiti-inspired print accents. The pieces also feature supportive details, such as wide elastic waistbands to allow for comfort, flexibility and movement, as well as the ability to be mixed and matched for versatility.

“SUSHISAMBA’s concept is all about energy and freedom, so understandably, color played a major role in the design” says Paula Knorr. With that spirit in mind, “we paired SUSHISAMBA’s signature orange with a rich and timeless midnight blue, accented with a bespoke print design inspired by the brand's signature street art.” When describing her approach to the project, much like her own brand’s ethos, she notes, “It was important to create uniforms with an inventive and thoughtful design language and production process that also complements all body shapes.”
