Co-owner Rowena Rowena has revealed a range of in-depth measures to ensure the safety of both guests and her team. She has commissioned a professional cleaning company to administer clinically tested chemicals in the air, covering the entire surface area of the restaurant. This technology provides a long-lasting protective shield on any surface that it is applied to, killing off 99.99% of bacteria and viruses.

Other safety measures include the introduction of partitions or screens between tables; anti-bacterial door handles; replacement of door push plates; making hand sanitisers and complimentary masks or gloves available for guests for their journey home; implementing daily staff health checks and ensuring the use of protective masks and shields for staff. If they wish, customers can order and pay directly on their mobiles although waiter service will of course continue. Romulo Café & Restaurant will also open with a new menu.

A slimmed down version of the pre-lockdown offering, it will still feature many of the signature dishes lovingly prepared by Head Chef Jeremy Villanueva that have captivated customers over the years, along with some new creations sure to delight the palate in equal measure. In addition, Rowena, her partner Chris and Jeremy have launched a side business of freshly baked artisanal Filipino delicacies to complement their legendary Filipino bread roll, pandesal Rowena stresses that despite the changes, Romulo Café & Restaurant will remain the warm and welcoming place it has always been. “We can’t lose sight of the fact that we are still a people industry, and our role is to provide a happy experience for our guests so that they want to come back,” she says.

Reservations are being taken from 3rd July and can be made by emailing [email protected] or calling 020 3141 6390. Romulo will continue with its successful takeaway service, but for local customers only.

Romulo Café & Restaurant will open Tuesday to Thursday from 5pm to 9pm (last orders) and Friday to Sunday from 12 noon to 9pm (last orders).
