Thought you’d finally got that tune out of your head? PizzaExpress has today added Watermelon Sorbet to its menu – a 100% vegan dessert that happens to sound similar to a certain Brit Award-winning Song of the Year.

It’s a deliciously indulgent post-pizza treat and launches at the vegan-only PizzaExpress at Aldwych in London in time for the Brit Awards next week. It will be rolled out in over 360 pizzerias nationwide from next month.

The Watermelon Sorbet dessert is the latest vegan addition to PizzaExpress menus, following the arrival of the vegan version of the iconic garlic butter in January.

The current menu features its biggest ever range of plant-based dishes including the American Jack – smoky jackfruit 'pepperoni' and tomato with its signature vegan mozzarella alternative; and the Vegan Ad Astra' – topped with Quorn, sweet red peppers, Cajun spice, red onion, tomato, garlic oil and vegan mozzarella alternative.

Jane Treasure, Food and Beverage Director at PizzaExpress, comments: “We are constantly innovating and updating our dishes and are always looking to add more vegan-friendly options to our menus, so we’re delighted to be launching our new music-inspired Watermelon Sorbet ahead of the Brit Awards. We have something for everyone at our pizzerias, and whether you’re vegan, flexi or just plain curious we’re sure this will hit the spot.”

PizzaExpress has a rich musical heritage, with legends including Van Morrison, Sting, Amy Winehouse and Ed Sheeran all performing at the PizzaExpress Jazz Club on Dean Street in London – a Soho icon since it opened its doors in 1969. And while live performances are not centre stage in every PizzaExpress, the musical heritage is very much part of the atmosphere, and now part of the menu too.
