The Times bfi 49th London Film Festival

This two-week celebration of cinema, Europe's largest public film event, runs from 19 October until 3 November 2005 at numerous venues across London.

With more than 20 screenings and special events to choose from every day, you'll be able to see films before they go on general release, attend galas and Screen Talks with famous directors and actors, or take part in movie workshops and events. This is the capital's most exciting and diverse film event.



Films screened this year include offerings from Hollywood as well as independent shorts.



This year's festival includes work from directors including Fernando Meirelles; George Clooney; Michael Winterbottom; Atom Egoyan; Steven Soderbergh and Takeshi Kitano and performances from actors such as Ralph Fiennes; Joaquin Phoenix; Juliet Binoche and Kirsten Dunst; with many of the film-makers and stars making personal appearances.
