Almeida welcomes head chef Robin Gill

Ex-Manoir chef arrives

Almeida restaurant, located just off Upper Street in Islington, North London, is delighted to welcome Robin Gill as head chef. Having worked at a variety of prestigious establishments including the two-Michelin starred Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons and a brief stint at Noma, Copenhagen, Robin brings with him a wealth of experience. He will gradually introduce his own style to the Almeida menu with a full re-launch in January 2013. Focusing on clean, incisive flavours, substituting butters and creams with oils and spices, Robin will create a menu featuring lighter dishes using the best of foraged fruit, vegetables and herbs.

Having commenced his career at Dublin’s La Stampa Restaurant, Robin moved to London and Marco Pierre Whites’ legendary three Michelin star, The Oak Room. He then went on to work at Ristorante Don Alfonso, on the Italian Amalfi Coast, and later at Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons before joining D&D London in May 2008 at Restaurant Sauterelle. Most recently, Robin travelled to Europe, undertaking stints at some of the world’s best restaurants including Noma and Frantzen/Lindeberg in Stockholm.

Working alongside Robin is new general manager Claire Follea who was previously at Gaucho in Sloane Square and at Cote. With Robin and Claire now at the helm, Almeida is set to reinforce its reputation as one of the most exciting foodie restaurants in London.
