Superfoods at Ceviche

Fresh fish, chilli, quinoa, guava - healthy eating goes gourmet at Soho restaurant Ceviche.

Peruvian cuisine is light, fresh and delicious. Martin Morales - founder and Gregor Funcke - head chef of Ceviche, have put together an exciting menu that has enough superfoods to get you through January and into 2013 without a sniff of rabbit food.

This year has been declared the International Year of Quinoa by the FAO (Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations). Known as the "Mother Grain" for its balanced nutritional value, it has a high protein content, high fibre content, is packed with minerals and plenty of vitamins. If compared to other similar grains in its category, then quinoa wins hands down; its power is impressive. This cereal was treasured by the Incas, and is now being put to good use in Soho!

Ensalada De Quinoa
White quinoa, tomatoes, avocado, butter beans and coriander with lime and limo chilli vinaigrette

The main ingredient of this fresh salad is quinoa, a gluten free grain that has a high protein content and contains the 9 essential amino acids. The dish has a fruity fresh flavour, given by its physalis dressing (a high energy fruit with a high content of vitamins and minerals), tomatoes (a natural antioxidant that is packed full of vitamins A, C and E) and a bed of avocado (considered one of the healthiest foods on the planet). This light salad is finished off with a topping of thinly sliced red onions.

Paiche Amazon Fish Grilled Skewers

The Amazon River is home to the sustainably farmed Paiche fish, with it’s impressive nutritional value. It is rich in proteins, with a high concentration of Omega 3 and Omega 9, and zero cholesterol.

Mackerel and Gooseberry Tiradito

This colourful Tiradito is fresh and spicy in the mouth. Its chilli gives you a powerful boost of vitamin A. Mackerel is rich in protein and contains vitamins A, D + B12 - good for heart health. The Tigers Milk marinade used to cure the mackerel contains zingy gooseberry, adding Vitamin C to the ceviche.


Superchacho 
A cocktail of guava, ginger and lemongrass cordial, maca, sparkling water and lime
