Ella Fitzgerald, Amy Winehouse, Jamie Cullum and, most recently, Rolling Stones legend, Charlie Watts, have all played at the PizzaExpress Jazz Club. Since opening its doors in the heart of Soho in 1969, the venue has become a hotbed for established and up and coming talent. Now, it’s going back to its roots with a sixties-style, jazz-inspired makeover.

The news will be music to the ears for the legions of jazz fans who visit the legendary Dean Street restaurant and club, which reopened on 23 April. The new design is a nod to the club’s roots and the decade that it opened. The artwork is inspired by impactful jazz imagery from the ‘60s, which uses vivid blocks of colour and striking geometry to reflect the style of the music and what was happening in fashion at the time

PizzaExpress’ Design Director, Mark Standing, said, “The artwork overlay celebrates not only a fantastic period in the evolution of jazz but also in PizzaExpress’ history. The edgy, slightly retro style creates a cool, grown up vibe which we hope will delight our customers.”

Acts coming up include:
* Norway rising star Marius Neset, a very modern, powerful virtuoso saxophonist (22-23 April)
* Liane Carroll who’s celebrating her new album (25-29 April)
* Brian Culbertson who’s performing 12 shows all of which have nearly sold out (2-10 May)
* Sheila Jordan - Old school jazz singer from the US (13 May)
* Robert Wells - amazing pianist, boogie-woogie, classical, jazz (21-24 May)
* Richard Bona appearing with Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Ernesto Simpson (30–31 May)
