We caught up with Hoxton DJ and producer Mr Left Eye and talked favourite clubs, bars and restaurants around London town.

Hoxton born and raised, Mr Left Eye a.k.a. Subject 13 a.k.a. David Stewart is well placed to select his creature comforts amongst London’s nightlife scene. With influences of dubstep, classical, D’n’B, indie and bass, his music is a muddled mix of abstract electronica. A DJ, producer and promoter, we caught up with him ahead of his new night Eclectic Development at Duke’s and asked him to give us his guide to London fun.

Bars

Hoxton Pony
This is my local I guess… It's a speakeasy type of vibe here, great atmosphere and a good security team who don’t over stress their presence - important! I'm T-Total so I can't give you a run down of the great looking Hoxton Pony cocktails but by the looks on most of my mates faces and their legs as they stumble to the toilets and back to the bar, I'd say they’re doing a great job! This place is so relaxing in the week and it’s always good for networking, I love the decor as it just sets the ambiance and the music is always top quality. Come on the weekend and they’ll have some really good DJs both big and unknowns. Sometimes I'll just pop in on the random and there's some dudes playing who I don’t know but I’ll still come away having heard some lush grooves.

Cafe 1001
It's so chilled it’s unreal. Café 1001 has a very Mediterranean feel about it and there’s always a cross section of folks from all over the globe flittering about. Lovely food, great music and gorgeous women around this place, ha-ha! If it’s a nice day then you got the down-to-earth tables and chairs outside - nothing pompous about this place, as it’s just chilled and cultured in its outlook. It’s a proper landmark of East London.

Rivington Grill Bar
Rivington Grill Bar is a simple relaxed bar, which is another local and two minutes from my front door. Great British food served by some very good staff. Great for a relaxed afternoon chill.

Restaurants

Sushi Samba
Such a rich mix in the food and decor and the culture of this place is always refreshing. It can be a little pricey – Sushi Samba is in the Heron Tower after all - but I like it so it’s worth paying the little extra.

Gilgamesh
Once again, this has a lovely decor with this beautiful wooden theme going on. Gilgamesh serves beautiful Asian food with a great vibe and there’s always an easygoing atmosphere.

Real Hoxton – F Cooke
As the name says, this is 'The Real Hoxton'. It is just exactly that. F Cooke is all about pie & mash. It's not everyone's cup of tea but for me it reflects the history and culture of the place I was born in. Many faces have passed through this little doorway throughout the years and some of the stories the place could tell you might even scare away some of the trend-setting settlers of today! It's down-to-earth and holds historic value as it’s been about since the 18th Century - Hoxton wouldn’t be the same with out it

Clubs

Fabric
Fabric is where you'll find me most when I’m not playing or promoting. Once again, not far from my home - I must either come across as really lazy or just really lucky! It’s all about the music and the sound here for me and you can’t deny that it has some of the best line-ups in town. The attention to detail of the sound never ceases to amaze me here, as that's what I strive for as a producer myself. But to hear a club do it just gains my maximum respect. I've had hours of fun checking out some great sets on Fabric’s lovely system. I don’t choose any one genre; I just like to go check out stuff that’s good quality - whatever style or sound.

EGG
Laurence Malice's ground breaking King's Cross club Egg has been in business for over a decade and hosts some of the House music scene's biggest international players! There is always something unique going on in the summer thanks to the incredible garden and terrace, which is a luxury to have right in the middle of London – there’s nowhere else like it!

Duke's
This is the setting for my new party Eclectic Development, which is launching on Friday July 19th. It’s a great new warehouse style location. It’s fully setup for Live music and DJs and the word-of-mouth vibe is attracting party-heads in a big way for the summer – especially for my party! Ha-ha!

Mr Left Eye/Subject 13 joins The Freestylers, Nookie, Joe Le Groove, Heny G, with Live guests, ZubZub and Dubtastic, and many more at the launch of Eclectic Development kicking out the bass, breaks, beats and dub on Friday July 19th at the new location of Duke’s, 32-38 Dukes Place, Liverpool Street, EC3A 7LP, from 9pm till 6am.

He also spins his Mystic Audio show every Friday between 1pm-3pm and on Friday July 19th Dj Nookie joins him for a live chat and mix following on www.kanefm.com
