There are a whole raft of new entries to this mid-season update which have shaken things up a bit.

This latest update to our All In London Ultimate Restaurant List has proven to be a real shake-up of the old stalwarts. Nearly a quarter of the list has changed since the summer, but with a 4% increase in the average score of the latest 100 Ultimate Restaurants, it seems that this is down to some great strides amongst newcomers and incumbents and not necessarily a weakening position amongst previous entrants.

With a degree of pride we are thrilled to see that six of the nine 'ones to watch' we listed in the 2014 guide have thundered into the latest Ultimate Restaurant List; Simon Rogan's Fera at Claridges has gone straight into the top 10, whilst Trishna's little sister Gymkhana is only just outside at number 13. The man of the moment, Jason Atherton has continued his winning formula at City Social bringing it in at number 18, although not content with that, sister to Pollen Street Social, Little Social, has also entered the list at number 83. Celeb favourite Chiltern Firehouse under the guidance of Nuno Mendes, has entered at number 31, whilst Nuno Mendes' replacement restaurant at the Town Hall Hotel, The Typing Room, has (as we predicted!), made a great first impression at number 58. The fact that Angela Hartnett's Merchant's Tavern has entered the Ultimate Restaurant List is a particularly noteworthy achievement; historically spin-off restaurants have had a much tougher time making an impression on the guide books and with the critics than have flagship restaurants, so the Merchant's Tavern really has been given the ultimate seal of approval.

Aside from our predictions, we've had first-time entries from Sushi Tetsu in Clerkenwell at number 19, Hoi Polloi which offers all day dining in Shoreditch (in at number 43), and my personal favourite (although obviously I will always maintain my professional impartiality!) Ottolenghi in Islington serving sunny, Mediterranean-influenced food, which has achieved position 49. Angler, located in the City, Casse Croute in Bermondsey and The Dairy in Clapham have all entered the top 100 for the first time and, as with most of the other new entries, are outside the traditional west-end stomping ground of fine dining. The trend is largely eastward and towards new dining concepts with informal fine dining and antidotes to the traditional three course meal, becoming ever more significant influences on the London Foodie. London's dining scene is anything but stagnant.. check out the full countdown right here
