Warm days and long nights spent with family
Gossiping till long after dark in the comfort safety of a back garden in north London, or East or wherever my friends happen to be.
An afternoon stroll along the Thames (from Bermondsey to Battersea or up through Alexandra Park
The views of London from the bridges or from up the hill alway make me smile.
Music in the park
Whether you’re at at a huge concert, a small bandstand or from a portable speaker playing MP3s, music in the park is very special. Moreover you can picnic all day in one of London’s many green spaces then catch a show or a gig in the evening without having to travel far. Very cool.
The Swedish Bakery in Rose Street WC2. Say no more!
Finding something new to do or see with friends or visitors to my home town
.. and there is always something new and exciting to see in the summer. That is what makes London so special. It has as much history and ceremonial splendour as a royalist could wish, it is filled with new innovation, art and enough spectacle to thrill the most world-travelled connoisseur. It has quiet spaces and free places for young and old, for lovers and for the lovers of laughter. AND summer will makes a Londoner smile just that little bit more. Not me, I’m always smiling.
Being by the Thames
I love the Southbank in the summer. There’s always great stuff going on there and a lovely vibe and it’s great being by the water when the weather is nice.
All the London festivals and outdoor events including the Summer Soulstice Festival
Having a picnic is a real treat and I live near Hampstead Heath which is really lovely in the summer - you don’t feel like you’re in London but in the countryside! I also like Regent’s Park and London Fields
Love the smell of a bbq and going to friends for a bbq gathering.
There’s nothing better than sitting in the sun on a Sunday afternoon in a pub garden with friends. There’s some great spots in North London including Tufnell Park’s Junction Tavern, Primrose Hill’s The Engineer, Princess of Wales or Pembroke Castle.
