Not to be confused with Eurostar stopover town Ashford in Kent, Ashford, Middlesex is located within the borough of Hounslow and is part of London’s commuter belt. Although a number of objects have been found here that date back to the Bronze Age, the area was primarily developed from the 1930s onwards, hence the proliferation of modern semi-detached homes and villas. The residents tend to work in central London, at Heathrow airport or Thames Valley, and the area offers a small yet well-formed selection of supermarkets and shops. Ashford is served by a train station that links to Waterloo, as well as Staines, Windsor and Feltham.
