Blackheath

Your All In London guide to Blackheath

Blackheath is significantly more affluent and middle class than neighbouring Lewisham and Deptford, particularly since great effort was put into improving the area’s reputation in the centuries since it was a known haunt for highwaymen. It takes its name from the large green space that separates it from Greenwich, and where a popular fireworks display takes place every November; it is also home to the Blackheath Rugby Club and the Royal Blackheath Golf Club. Blackheath Village has numerous independent shops and cafes, as well as art galleries and restaurants. Although there is no underground station, the overground links to Victoria, Charing Cross and Cannon Street.
