Home to Charlton Athletic FC, this leafy suburb in the borough of Greenwich is characterised by its “village”, buildings of historical interest and traditional-looking pubs, as well as plenty of green spaces. Since the Jubilee Line extension Charlton has benefited from its proximity to Canary Wharf and the Greenwich Peninsula, where the o2 complex is, however Charlton itself has a large retail park and numerous restaurants. It’s a popular area for young professionals and commuters into town, as house prices are relatively affordable compared to much of inner London and there is plenty to do in the local area.
