Cricklewood

Your All In London guide to Cricklewood

Originally, part of the Borough of Hendon, Cricklewood is now part of the London Borough of Brent, with a small part located in Camden.

Although a settlement existed on what is now Cricklewood Road as far back as Medieval times, it wasn’t until the early 20th century that industries started to move their headquarters here, coinciding with the arrival of the railway and a now disused tram system. Unfortunately most of the local industries fell into decline in the 60s, resulting in high unemployment and poverty. Nowadays Cricklewood still struggles, but the council has big plans which include building a new train station and lengthening the platforms at Cricklewood station, a project that is expected to create employment opportunities and breathe a new lease of life to the area.
