Edmonton

Your All In London guide to Edmonton

Edmonton has the unfortunate luck of being home to a large incinerator, which burns waste and pumps out a plume of smoke that can be seen for miles around. Much of the area surrounding the incinerator is industrial, there is also a retail park with a B&Q, Maplins, Mothercare and IKEA, which caused a stampede on its opening day. Edmonton is home to a large Turkish-Cypriot community and is ethnically diverse, in recent years it has become a place of refuge for asylum seekers, sadly it also has one of the highest rates of unemployment in the UK. Edmonton Green has been the subject of a regeneration plan resulting in a new health centre, leisure complex, bus station and affordable housing.
