The district of Highgate is spilt across several different boroughs; Camden, Islington and Haringey, which makes it a diverse and unusual suburb of North London. Highgate is particularly popular with professional commuters, making it one of the most expensive regions outside Central London.
One of the most famous buildings in Highgate is the Highgate School which has been in existence since before the mid 16th century. Some of the well known pupils of Highgate School included Charles Clarke and John Betjeman.
Neighbouring areas include Hampstead and Finchley which are equally well populated with wealthy commuters, making it a generally affluent and well kept region of London.
