Until the arrival of the railway in the late 19th century, Neasden had a population of a little more than 100 people. The name Neasden is derived from old English for ‘Nose Hill’, which relates to a landmark in the centre of this northern region of the city.
Located in the London Borough of Brent, Neasden is a heavily populated, primarily due to the excellent transport links that serve the area. The railway was a big changing factor in Neasden and during the early 20th century many houses were built to house the increasing number of railway workers.
Evidence of this growth is still apparent today with plenty of housing and industrial buildings and modern day Neasden is now a thriving commuter area in London.
