Leafy New Beckenham is situated just to the north of the suburb of Beckenham, located in the borough of Bromley. Beckenham was originally a tiny semi-rural village before London’s expansion meant that the population grew; today it numbers around 80,000. Housing is a mixture of grand old buildings from its days as a small town to modern bungalow-style houses and purpose built apartment blocks, some of which contain luxury flats, catering to professionals commuting into the city. New Beckenham’s railway station links to Cannon Street, Waterloo, London Bridge and Charing Cross. The area is also home to the headquarters of many companies and branches of upmarket retail chains.
