New Cross and Deptford are the two areas being bandied around by the press as being “The New Shoreditch”. While there is a vibrant music scene in New Cross - partly thanks to the arty Goldsmiths College – there is no escaping the fact that it is still located within one of London’s most deprived boroughs. Despite this estate agents are taking advantage of the buzz and house prices are rising, especially since the renovated East London Line reopened, although there are many run down properties and attractive Victorian terraces which remain relatively inexpensive. There is little in terms of shopping, with Lewisham offering the nearest retail possibilities.
