Southgate

Your All In London guide to Southgate

Amy Winehouse was born and went to school here. It is home to a large Masonic centre. Sculptor and Turner prize winner Rachel went to Southgate School. Despite these facts, Southgate is far from being a hotbed of cultural and notorious activity, rather it is a typical north London suburb with plenty of attractive 1930s semi-detached houses with front gardens and a relatively decent high street. It also boasts many parks, and all this put together has made it a popular area with young families who want more for their money - this recent surge in population has resulted in the development of various modern apartment blocks. Southgate links to central London in around 20 minutes thanks to the Piccadilly Line.
