If you want a glimpse of how the aristocracy live, St. James’s is the place to do it, although glimpse is as far as you’ll get with the various member’s clubs and royal residences that line the area. Clarence House and Spencer House are here, the latter being the ancestral home of the late Princess Diana’s family and now open as a museum. Jermyn Street, famous for tailors and shoemakers catering to the wealthy gentleman runs parallel to Piccadilly, meaning most of its visitors are tourists, while St. James’s Park is another popular attraction. Duke Street has traditionally been associated with art dealers and galleries; the White Cube gallery’s first location was just off this street, before moving to Hoxton Square.
