Leafy Sutton is a commuter area popular with first time buyers and young families, as property prices are cheaper than in London’s inner boroughs and the proliferation of green spaces makes it appealing to those wanting to raise a family. Housing is a mixture of bay-fronted Victorian properties, 1930s semis and purpose built flats. The area also has a reputation for good schools, and the shops, leisure centres, pubs and restaurants make it a self-contained town in itself, with the railway linking to Victoria and London Bridge. On the downside, as with many UK town centres, the high concentration of bars and clubs in a small area can become the setting for much drunken and disorderly behaviour at the weekends.
