Best known for being home to the famous Lakeside Shopping Centre - which also happens to be one of the largest indoor malls in Europe - Thurrock borders Essex and has a population of 150,000. Unfortunately crime figures are high and the area is considered to be deprived, hence being a top priority for the Thames Gateway regeneration project. There are plenty of high street stores, pubs and eateries to cater to the locals however Thurrock’s biggest selling point is its proximity to the countryside and abundance of green spaces. Thurrock is just outside the M25 and there are a number of train stations linking to the centre of the capital.
