West Kensington

Although traditionally West Kensington has not been privy to the immense wealth Kensington has, a certain amount of overspill has meant that house prices have risen and a number of chic boutiques and gastropubs have opened in the area. Best known for being home to Kensington Olympia’s exhibition centre, there are numerous attractive Victorian houses, many of which have been converted into flats and are owned by wealthy young professionals. As with the rest of Kensington and neighbouring Bayswater, there is a considerable Middle Eastern and European population, attracted by the numerous French and Spanish private schools. The main shopping areas are High Street Kensington and in Hammersmith.
