I think Lolak is a great little place to eat freshly prepared, tasty and inexpensive Nigerian food. The place is more of a cafe than a restaurant, with people coming and going all the time - the point being eating rather than relaxation.
As a white British man I am always treated with frindliness and amazement by my fellow diners and the staff will quickly recognise you if you like it enough to re-visit. The boss, known as "Al Haja" and her staff are warm and welcoming.
If you haven't had it before, Equatorial West African food is different enough from what many English people usually eat that I think it requires an open mind and an adventurous spirit. With this in mind, try the amala or pounded yam with Egusi Stew with either meat or fish. Nigerians eat tripe aplenty, so go for fish if you're not keen on it. I think they also do Jollof Rice if your feeling conservative!
So, my fellow Oyimbo, please give Niaja food a try; 130 million people can't be wrong!
