Launching on Thursday 4th July 2013, Joe’s Southern Kitchen and Bar is set to bring the authentic taste of the Deep South to Covent Garden. Featuring an exciting menu of flavoursome, succulent and belly filling dishes, and a bold cocktail list that conjures up hot heady evenings, Joe’s Southern Kitchen and Bar serves up great American food with Southern hospitality and London finesse.

Previously Navajo Joe, Joe’s Southern Kitchen and Bar signals a brand new direction for the long established Maxwells Restaurant Group. Back in the early 1970s, when it was practically impossible to find a decent burger or grill in London, Brian Stein opened Maxwell’s Hampstead – a huge success. In the 1980s, Maxwell’s moved to the West End, and the group expanded in Covent Garden and beyond, now boasting eight venues, including Café De Paris, PJ’s Bar and Grill and Roadhouse.

With the launch of Joe’s Southern Kitchen and Bar, Brian Stein and Maxwell’s Group are moving forward by returning to the beginning, and embracing the newest version of the American food trend Maxwell’s started 40 years ago. The result is an American food offering that looks beyond the burger, all impeccably served in a buzzy, exciting and unpretentious environment.

Created by Head Chef, Mark Jeevaratnam (ORSO and Clarke’s in London and Otto restaurant, Sydney), the menu at Joe’s Southern Kitchen and Bar will feature the mouth watering, hearty dishes characteristic to areas like Louisiana, North Carolina and Alabama. Each dish has been developed from original recipes, with Mark adding a sophisticated edge to these home-cooked favourites by using high quality ingredients, careful flavour pairing, and imaginative presentation.

Well, slap my thigh and call me Gutsy...

It’s all about the marinade at Joe’s Southern Kitchen & Bar (previously Navajo Joe’s),from the 24 hour marinated buttermilk chicken to the 8 hour slow roast beef ribs in BBQ rub. Here you’ll also find crab, gumbo and beer can chicken.

Low + slow = delicious

This is London's only restaurant to serve beer can chicken, where the bird is plonked onto a beer can while it grills, keeping the meat nice and juicy. It's then wheeled out on a trolley and carved directly in front of you! Other treats include the eight-hour roasted beef and a whole southern fried chicken that's been marinated in tea for 24 hours.

Let's drink!

This southern-inspired diner has a happy hour every day of the week, with some selected cocktails costing a bargain £4. Choose from watermelon martinis with agave syrup, mojitos, or the cheekily named 'son of a peach' made with Stoli, peach liquor and fruit juices.
