The Greenhouse prides itself on being “a tranquil oasis”, as the restaurant is at the end of a quiet, tree-lined pathway. Moreover, chef Arnaud Bignon’s traditional training in French cuisine has served it well, as the quality hasn’t dipped remotely since he replaced Antonin Bonnet in early 2012.

Classic Gallic dishes are tarted up with exotic ingredients (turbot with cockles, kaffir lime and pak choi, sea bass with yuzu and chlorophyll herbs), the wine list is extensive and service is seamless. The prices may be suitably Mayfair, but one would expect nothing less from an establishment of this calibre.

The quiet mews where the Greenhouse is located feels a hundred miles away from Oxford Street, but not so, for it’s in fact slap bang in the middle of Mayfair. The fine French menu suits its chic address, and Arnaud Bignon’s masterful cooking was rewarded with a second Michelin star in 2013.
