God Bless Restaurant

well what can I say... I was pleasantly surprised to find this little gem of a place in good old peckham, (did I spell it right)... ? A friend of mine had been ranting on about this lovely little caribbean cafe/restaurant he had been going to and how wonderful the food was.. I thought he may have been exaggerating, so went along myself to sample their so called culinary delights- and boy was my friend right!!!

I have tried almost every dish and not one of them isn't up to scratch... from the curry goat, to the stewed oxtail, and ooh don't get me started on the aptly themed Fish friday, where I got to sample the steamed butter fish, which was surprisingly flavoursome. It had delicate but individual flavours of the melt in your mouth butter fish, to slow steamed onions carrots and okra, in a light source served with either rice or hard food (a selection of seamed root veg)....

There's even the whole crab, which I think still has a way to go on complex flavours ,but still tasty never the less!
What I really appreciated, was the service, as we all know caribbean establishments often offer there own type of customer whoop-ass, I mean service, so it was nice to be greeted by a friendly bunch, with a little bit of a family vibe to it all.

Must add that the rice is always nice and fluffy without being clumpy or stuck together and every dish I have tried, has had a real depth of flavour and left me wanting more.. all the rights over outweigh any minor wrongs in this place... Try it out.. Judging on food alone, trust me, you won't be disappointed... something for the more discerning pallet!

Ps just to state that I have been to over 50 caribbean establishments in the last ten years, and this one is the only one that sticks in my mind, so much so that I am having my 30th celebration there.. now this is coming from a person who normally celebrates in swanky establishments such as the kensington roof gardens, the mayfair restaurant and taman gang.
