Took my 79 year old mother for a birthday dinner. We used to go often 20 years ago. Sadly it's not what it was. The food is average Chinese takeaway standard. Worst of all was the service. The aircon was making us very cold. And other guests. But they refused to do anything about it. Preferring to tell me I was wrong. I shan't return.

I have praised and recommended Tai Pan to everyone I know and have been going there for 6years, but sadly I had a takeaway from there last night to discover 2hairs in with the food!! I will never be going back there or recommending them again!

I've been going to the Tai Pan for nearly 25 years - pretty much soon after it opened and we were introduced to it by a family friend. It was in the area my family lived in at the time and although none of us live in the area now, just about any event we can celebrate we do so there. And if there's nothing to celebrate, well, who needs an excuse? We go there anyway. If I've not been for a couple of months, I get withdrawal symptoms!

The food is superb and the staff are friendly and attentive.

My father said he'd bring my mother to the restaurant for her recent birthday. Nothing significant in that other than they came from Aberdeen to do that! Friends and family from Aberdeen, Elgin, Glasgow, Nottingham, Bristol, Blackburn, as well as from overseas - USA, Australia, Bolivia, Spain, France - have all been entertained here and all go away with full stomachs and fantastic memories of the food. Many have returned.

I can't fault it. Long may it continue to feed us!

The food in this resturant is first class, service is also very good, can be slightly busy for the buffet on sundays, however, shows how popular the resturant is.
